Outlook Express Email Setup

Audience:
For customers who use Microsoft Outlook Express as their email program, and wish to set up their new account domain email on their home or work computer.

Note:
The following instructions are based on Microsoft Outlook Express, but can be used in a generic nature for other programs.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express.

  2. Open the Tools menu. It is located in the menu bar at the top of the screen, similar to the following:

  3. Click on the Accounts option.

  4. A list of your Internet Accounts will now appear.

  5. Select the Add option in the right hand side menu panel, followed by Mail.

  6. You will now see the Account Setup Wizard. The first step is to enter your name. This name will be shown in all outbound emails utilising this account. Click Next to proceed to the next step.

  7. The next step will require that you enter your email address. In the white box similar to the following, enter the new email addressed relevant to your account.

This may be joe@pizzapalace.com.au, or jenny@hugsandbears.net.au - whichever email account is relevant to you, enter it here. This address will be shown on all of your outbound emails utilising this account.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

  8. The next step is to enter your account server information.

For the incoming mail server, you should extract this information from your Account Setup information sheet issued to you when you established your account. It is a POP3 server. Typically, the server name will be of the form mail.yourdomain.com.au, where yourdomain.com.au is instead, the domain that you have registered. So, if you've registered pizzapalace.com.au, you would enter mail.pizzapalace.com.au inside the incoming mail server field.

The outgoing mail server should be as per your dial up provider's settings. For example, mail.optusnet.com.au (Optus) or mail.bigpond.com (Telstra).

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

  9. Finally, you will need to enter your user information:

Your Account Name is the email username that has been issued to you. Enter both it and the associated password for that username into these spaces.

If you do not wish to type in your password every time you run Outlook Express, leave the Remember Password option checked.

Click Next to proceed to the next step.

  10. Continue through to the end of the wizard, and then close the Accounts Screen.
